Get ready for an unforgettable night of intrigue as you participate in a thrilling “Murder Mystery Night: Winona County Historical Society Addition.” The Winona County History Center (WCHC) and Theatre du Mississippi (TdM) teams will host you for this hair-raising evening, and event proceeds will support these two organizations.

How to Join the Mystery:

Can you uncover the truth behind the mystery? Will you be able to distinguish between fact and fiction? Who can be trusted? And what historical forces might be at play in this dark and mysterious whodunit?

Gather your team of sleuths and dive deep into the folklore as you piece together the clues. Costumes inspired by the myths and legends of Poland are highly encouraged to fully immerse yourself in this enchanting and suspenseful evening! The suspects are:

Lumberman

They’re straight-laced and believe in “an honest pay for an honest day’s work.” They’ve seen some hardship and boot-strapped themselves to an honest living. They don’t like “newcomers” and think the “new kids” have it easier than they should.

General Store Clerk

Bubbly and bright, they’re everyone’s best friend, as long as they make a sale. They hear a lot of who does what to whom in the town, whether it’s simply gossip and drama or something of more significance.

Bank Teller

They’re placid, benign — still water in a turgid sea. They interact with a lot of the locals, but are always on the lookout for the big pay-off that could put them on an island without a care in the world.

Steamboat Captain

Surly, bearded, slightly (or maybe significantly) inebriated, how else would they put up with the nonsense?

Deckhand

They’re a straight shooter, the best of us, opposite of their captain. They’re unhappy with some of the Captain’s calls, but still keeping the ship upright.

Undertaker

A body is a body. Money is money. The Undertaker sees bits and pieces of all of the scenes around town, but doesn’t have a strong position to make them significantly different.

WCTU Member

They’ve been jeered and sneered. Called a provocateur and a firebrand. They just want to make home safe again by getting the Devil’s Drink out of the hands of those they love. They pushes a coffee cart nightly in hopes of helping their community sober up, but they know there are bigger cogs turning and bigger demons to slay.
